The seventh Twenty20 match in the fourth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be played on Sunday night at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium between Lahore Qalandars and Peshawar Zalmi.
Lahore Qalandars have so far played two matches in the PSL-4, winning one by 22 runs against Karachi Kings on Saturday and losing one by five wickets to Islamabad United in the inaugural match on Thursday while Peshawar Zalmi played only one match and lost it by six wickets on Friday. The Zalmi are the only side in the PSL-4 with no point on the table.
However, Peshawar Zalmi had won the PSL title in its second edition in 2017 while Lahore Qalandars could not become the PSL champions in all three previous editions.
West Indies veteran allrounder Darren Sammy is captaining Peshawar Zalmi while Pakistan’s experienced allrounder Mohammad Hafeez is leading Lahore Qalandars.
Both sides have big national and international cricketers. Peshawar have the services of the most senior player 44-year-old Misbah-ul-Haq, who had led Pakistan in a record number of Test matches and also captained Islamabad United in the first three PSL editions.
Besides, experienced wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal, pace bowlers Wahab Riaz and Hasan Ali along with Andre Fletcher, Kieron Pollard, Liam Dawson, Sohaib Maqsood, Umaid Asif and Sameen Gul are also included in Peshawar Zalmi.
Lahore Qalandars include the great South African batsman AB de Villiers along with Brandan Taylor, Craig Brathwaite, AP Devich, Fakhar Zaman, Sohail Akhtar, Yasir Shah, Rahat Ali, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Haris Rauf.
